Cruising at $2.85

It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend on the Gulf Coast. Gas is down to $2.85 a gallon. Seems to me to be perfect conditions to fire up the Chevelle and take a scenic drive down Beach Boulevard on Pleasure Island. A quick trip down Highway 59, a left turn on Beach Boulevard and a cruise to the Florabama. Make sure you wave when I pass.

See you on the Beach!!

October Fishing Report by Capt. Randy Boggs

Red snapper are being caught in Florida waters out to 9 miles.Limits are common to 2 fish per person. Vermillion snapper are being caught on most of the larger reefs like the bridge rubble and barges and eve in shallow water 60’ to 70’ deep on cut squid. Trigger fish have shown up in big numbers and are being caught high in the water on cut squid on smaller hooks like 1 to 3 circle hooks.
A lot of red fish have been caught around the pass and in the bays. We have seen some really big catches of flounder on bull minnows, jigs, and Gulp!® baits. There have been black and yellow fin tuna being caught around the offshore rigs by trolling or jigging at night with diamond jigs.
We have seen quite a few wahoo caught in the last couple of weeks since the clear water has moved back in.We have even seen a few dolphins caught which is unusual this late in the season.

Eat That Shrimp!!

One of my favorite weekends of the year has arrived. It’s Shrimp Festival Weekend, and the Beachin’ Bob troupe assumes our customary role as unofficial visitor guides for the uninitiated. Our command post is located at Phoenix All Suites, as per the norm. It’s simply too convenient to be believed to walk from the hotel directly onto the Festival grounds. (For those who prefer a little quiet time between trips to the festival, try out Phoenix All Suites West, a short walk down the beach from the Festival.)

The food will be outstanding, and they’ve got some great music and activities.

See you at the Beach!!
